Artist Bio:

Paige Pettibon (@paige_pettibon) is a visual artist based in Tacoma, Washington. Her work spans painting, mixed media, jewelry, public art, and digital media. Drawing from her Black and Bitterroot Salish heritage and her upbringing on Coast Salish territories, Pettibon’s practice explores identity, human connection, history, and cultural resilience. Across all mediums, she focuses on the interconnectedness between humans, land, animals, and the complexities of cultures.

Pettibon works primarily in acrylic, watercolor, oil, and mixed media for her paintings, with a particular emphasis on portraiture and figurative work. Her paintings often explore relationships between people and land, sovereignty, resilience, and self-discovery. In digital art, she integrates an Indigipop style that maintains a human touch and texture. Her public art and murals respond to landscape and community history, aiming to create a sense of belonging and acknowledgment of place. In jewelry, Pettibon blends traditional Native American beadwork, weaving, and silversmithing, continuing a tradition of craftsmanship with contemporary expression.

She earned her Bachelor’s Degree through The Evergreen State College’s Native Pathways Program and her Associate of Arts from Tacoma Community College. She also completed the PARC Artist Training Cohort, the Yəhaw’ Show Mentorship Program, and the Lushootseed Language Institute. Her work has been supported through mentorships, public art commissions, and gallery representation.

Illustration by Paige Pettibon of traditional Indigenous foods bursting out of a traditional basket with Indigenous patternsFood is more than something we eat, it’s a way of connecting, remembering, and caring for each other. This recipe zine came from the belief that food is abundance. Each recipe I made as a way to connect with indigenous foods and awareness of seasonal food and gathering rituals.

Hand holding open Paige Pettibon's "Food is Abundance" zineI wanted this zine to feel like being welcomed into a gathering, centered around nourishing food and there’s always room for one more. Abundance isn’t about having endless resources, it’s about the way a meal can stretch, the way flavors carry memory, and the way sharing what we have brings people together.

This zine is my offering, a small collection of recipes and memories meant to be used, passed on, and shared. May it spark gratitude and remind us of the richness already around us.
