Blog VOTE 2026 – Kids can’t learn when they’re hungry. October 23, 2026 Share on Twitter Share on Facebook Share on LinkedIn Share on Email For years, advocates across Washington have worked toward a simple goal: Making sure every student has access to breakfast and lunch at school. Not because school meals solve hunger on their own, but because when kids have reliable access to food, they’re better able to focus, participate, learn, and grow. Families benefit, too. School meals help stretch household budgets and remove one more barrier to getting through the week. That’s why Northwest Harvest is paying close attention to Initiative 645 (I-645). If passed, I-645 would repeal Washington’s Millionaire’s Tax, putting the funding behind universal school meals at risk. A Resource We Hope You’ll Share One of the easiest ways to learn more about what’s at stake is through our new NO on I-645 zine, created by artist Paige Pettibon, from last year’s #ArtistsForFoodJustice campaign. The zine helps shine a light on why school meals matter and what’s at stake in the vote on I-645. Whether you share it with a friend, bring it to an event, or post it online, it’s designed to help start conversations.
