ACTION ALERT: Your Voice Matters. Make a Plan to Vote by August 4

Washington’s Primary Election is almost here, and there’s still time to make sure your voice is heard.

On Tuesday, August 4, voters across Washington will decide which candidates advance to the November General Election. This year’s primary includes races for Congress, the state legislature, judicial positions, and many local offices that directly impact our communities. Washington uses a top-two primary system, meaning the two candidates who receive the most votes in each race move on to the general election, regardless of party preference.

If you’ve already received your ballot, now is the time to complete it and return it. State election officials recommend using an official ballot drop box rather than mailing your ballot at the last minute.

Ballots placed in official drop boxes must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on August 4. If you choose to mail your ballot, it must be postmarked by Election Day, but officials strongly encourage voters to mail it as early as possible.

Washington also offers same-day voter registration. If you aren’t registered, or need to update your registration, you can do so in person at your county voting center and cast your ballot there through Election Day.

• Remind a friend, family member, or neighbor to vote.
