Join Northwest Harvest for Hunger Action Day on February 10!

Hunger Action Day (HAD), hosted annually by the Anti-Hunger and Nutrition Coalition (AHNC), is a day of collective advocacy dedicated to advancing food access and food justice across Washington. Each year, community members, advocates, and organizations come together to elevate the lived experiences of Washingtonians facing food insecurity and to bring those stories directly to the legislators who can shape policies that ensure every person in our state has equitable access to nutritious food. HAD is a powerful opportunity to champion systemic solutions and move Washington closer to a future free from hunger.

What happens during Hunger Action Day?

Hunger Action Day kicks off with an opening program of training and guest speakers at the United Churches of Olympia to prepare us for a day of advocacy. Attendees will then split into groups based on their legislative districts and make their way across the street to the State Capitol Building to meet with their state representatives. This is an excellent opportunity to speak with lawmakers as they are passing new bills that affect our state.

Things to know for Hunger Action Day

  • Refreshments and light food will be available upon arrival. Lunch will not be provided; walkable lunch options are available nearby.
