The end of the school year signals the start of summer vacations, camping trips, longer days and warmer weather. Unfortunately, for thousands of Seattle-area children, it also means less access to the meals they so desperately count on.
A pouch of rice. A carton of milk. A dish of applesauce. Not fancy by any means, but for 250 local schoolchildren, it’s a feast. It’s part of Three Squares, a program that supplies needy children with nonperishable foods to take home in backpacks.more
