Personally, I am not a big fan of most desserts. This fact normally gets met with confused stares when it comes to light. That being said, there are a few desserts that I think are absolutely delicious. Three Berry Crisp is not only satisfying but also extremely easy to make.

The Tour of Food Banks

Each summer our wonderful Partner Programs department organizes what are called Van Tours. These tours provide Northwest Harvest staff with the opportunity to travel around to a variety of the different programs to which we help supply food. I have loved seeing these different programs and my eyes have been opened to some of the incredible things that our partners do.

Recipe of the Week: Sweet Corn and Pepper Salsa

Summer might be getting ready to come to a close but that doesn’t mean that our food needs to reflect that just yet! I love the warm and hearty comfort food that comes with fall and winter I also enjoy cherishing the final bits of summer and that involves the fresh produce that can still be found at farmer’s markets. This week’s recipe comes from the Washington State Farmers Market Association and it was created by a chef from Tilth. It was designed to use affordable ingredients available at farmers markets. It also appears to have been designed to be delicious and pair well with many kinds of food.

Lasting Effects of the Recession on Consumer's Buying Power

This morning’s Seattle Times featured an article about the nation’s consumer buying power and how it’s been affected by the recession. It comes as no surprise that the recession reduced the buying power of consumers. What might come as a surprise is that, even though the recession ended four years ago, our buying power has not recovered and it actually weaker than it was when the recession ended.
